The Triticum turgidum (wheat turgidum), popularly known as Kamut is a common species of cereal Triticum (wheat), also known as wheat or Australian Poulard. It belongs to the tetraploid due to formation of 14 chromosomes.
Kamut wheat is the most ancient wheat variety is known and it is now fashionable as its richness in nutrients gives it many properties.
Was cultivated in the Old Egypt (meant Kamut bread). It would therefore be the ancestor of the hundreds of varieties of wheat that is in today.
-Antioxidant effect through its contribution of selenium and vitamin E (30% more than in common wheat). Important in case of cardiovascular problems and to help prevent oxidation of cholesterol.
-Produces less than common wheat allergy as it is not a hybrid. The current types of wheat have been many crossings to suit the needs of the moment (weather, fashions, textures ...).
